Everyone needs a mom
We have given up having parents and grandparents, aunts uncles and cousins, family groups together, raising children and working and playing together--and there are advantages to not being tied to those traditions that are toxic--but tonight I stayed home from a group of ladies I wanted to spend time with so I could instead take care of my young adult daughter who needed someone to just be her mom: bring her herb tea and tissues, watch a sappy romance movie with her, hug her and just be there. Everyone needs a mom. And a dad--those adults who take care of you and support you and encourage you and are proud of you when you do well and advise you when you don't know what to do and help you learn new skills. I miss my parents.
