God limits Himself

God chooses to limit himself, most of the time, to what we are willing to attempt. He really really wants us to choose, and so, while He could make everyone healthy and wealthy, He chooses not to. Instead He gives us parents in various states of readiness, with their own lessons to learn. He gives us varied circumstances; some of us have access to great educational opportunities and some of us must scrabble for every bit. Some of us see great examples of Christ-like behavior every day; some of us hurt daily from what others choose to do. Sometimes it's really hard to see what God wants from us.

So He explains, quietly, in sunlight and rain, in relationships we live with, in bounty and scarcity of resources, in words of scripture, in allowing choices and limiting our options. He's all about learning from experience; it's why we're here instead of in heaven right now. The earth is full of His grace and His beauty; He wants us to experience it fully. Our families are full of opportunities for growth, love, peace, conflict, temperance, co-operation and tolerance. He wants us to learn with them. Our world is full of man-made structures, diggings, and changes; God wants us to learn, and then choose wisely.

But He can't do any of this if we refuse to move. I can't become a better writer if I don't write. You cannot grow a better relationship if you shun them. We cannot work together if neither of us speaks up.

I'm telling myself this, as I'm trying to get myself to move forward financially. It's hard. I've been provided for by others for most of my life, and I don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Must I?

Yes. One step at a time. Just today, no more, no less. Just this moment, and then the next moment. Tomorrow will take care of itself when it comes.
