Bouquets of flowers

I am grateful for my dear friends. Two of them stopped by today to give me a bouquet of flowers. I had just gone out to the backyard to throw away the remnants of the peach colored roses my daughter gave me to for Mother's Day. I have been enjoying them for three weeks; those roses came on the back of another group of roses given to me for some other occasion, I don't remember now. The vase has been refilled several times, as flowers drink water.
So I quickly washed out the vase and added the flower food that came with this new bouquet. Then I cut the stems to a good length and tried to put them into the vase. There were too many stems! I would have damaged them by forcing them in. So I cast about for a larger vase. Truly my blessings run over.
The smaller vase is cobalt blue, my favorite color; the vase I got out is canary yellow, another favorite color. It's wide at the base and wider at the mouth. Good thing the stems were already cut down; this wider vase tends to tip over if it gets top heavy. I put a few of the earlier roses in with this bouquet, because now I have room and they still smell wonderful.
I appreciate my friends' thoughtfulness. I was able to hug both of them and smile and wish them a good day. I was dragging emotionally; I feel better.
